The Nigerian Army has recorded a series of major breakthroughs in counter-insurgency and anti-crime operations over the past 24 hours, rescuing kidnapped victims, disrupting terror activities and uncovering illegal crude oil operations in several parts of the country.
According to senior military sources at Army Headquarters, troops across different theatres have maintained an aggressive operational tempo, responding swiftly to emerging threats.
In the North-West, troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA engaged terrorists in multiple confrontations. Soldiers of 1 Brigade were deployed to Baigasuwa community in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara following an attack by armed groups. The intervention forced the attackers to withdraw while residents were rescued. Four civilians were, however, injured by gunfire during the incident.
In neighbouring Kebbi State, terrorists targeted a Nigeria Immigration Service checkpoint in Bagudo, killing three personnel and torching operational vehicles before escaping. Troops later rescued five persons and a baby along the Unashi–Doka axis in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area after the captors abandoned the victims on sighting the advancing military team.
In the North-Central region, troops of Operation MESA operating around the Kogi–Kwara corridor rescued four kidnapped victims during a shootout with insurgents at Konan Leda in Lokoja. Eleven others managed to escape in the aftermath of the military assault. Two motorcycles and a radio communication device were recovered at the scene. In a separate operation, another victim was freed in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
The fight against oil theft also recorded gains as troops of Operation Delta Safe intensified patrols in the South-South. In Eleme, Rivers State, soldiers working with other security agencies uncovered 350 sacks of stolen crude oil estimated at 10,500 litres. Another team on patrol in Bonny recovered equipment used by oil thieves—including jerrycans, hoses and a Yamaha boat engine—abandoned by suspects who fled on sighting the troops.
Military sources confirmed that formations in the North-East theatre under Operation HADIN KAI, including those involved in the ongoing Desert Sanity IV campaign, reported no major incidents but continued clearance and security operations across key routes.
