Arsenal icon Tony Adams and six Manchester United legends are nominated in 15-man list for the Premier League Hall of Fame

The Premier League have nominated 15 legends as possible entrants to the Hall of Fame.

Arsenal’s title winning captain Tony Adams and a handful of Manchester United heroes have all been put forward.

The Premier League’s Hall of Fame was introduced to recognise some of the league’s most successful individuals since it formed in 1992.

It was announced on Tuesday that Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger are the first two managers to be inducted.

Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and Frank Lampard are just some of the names who are also there, and three more are set to be added.

United boast a strong contingent of former stars nominated, with Rio Ferdinand being accompanied by Michael Carrick, Andy Cole, Gary Neville and Nemanja Vidic.

All of them lifted the Premier League trophy at least five times during their career, making them more than worthy of a nomination.

Adams is one of three ex-Arsenal players to be nominated, with fellow title winners Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole.

The defensive trio kept a collective 415 clean sheets during their spells in the top flight of English football.

Cole was also successful at Chelsea, with fellow Blues John Terry and Petr Cech also making the list.

The former won the title five times at the west London side, and the latter was a four-time Golden Glove winner.

Liverpool legends Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler are included too, scoring 150 and 163 Premier goals respectively.

Jermain Defoe’s 162 strikes at five different clubs have him 9th in the all-time goal-scoring list, with Les Ferdinand’s 149 goals also seeing him emerge as a nominee.

Yaya Toure is on the list with the former midfielder winning three titles with Manchester City.

Premier League fans will be able to vote for the next inductees at www.premierleague.com/halloffame and on the Premier League app.

Voting will close at 6pm on Monday, 10 April, and the three successful nominees will be announced on Wednesday, 3 May.

Inductees are rewarded with a personalised medallion engraved with the year of their induction, with the Premier League also donating £10,000 to a charity of the player’s choice.
