Arsenal, under the guidance of Mikel Arteta, are sitting at the top of the English Premier League table with 19 points, just three points ahead of Manchester City…
Former Super Eagles coach and captain, Sunday Oliseh, has showered praises on Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, Soccernet.ng reports.
The former Juventus midfielder described him as one of the best coaches in world football and criticised Arsenal for parting ways with him too soon.
After Emery was sacked by the Arsenal board, he took Villarreal to the final of the 2020-21 UEFA Europa League, where he triumphed over Manchester United 11–10 on penalties following a 1–1 draw after extra time. Arteta has yet to achieve this with Arsenal.
What Oliseh Said About Former Arsenal Boss
Speaking passionately about the Spanish tactician, Oliseh noted that the former boss of the London club continues to deliver impressive results despite limited resources.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. This man is giving little and he brings big. He is my best coach. He is the reason why I watch Aston Villa. I started watching him from Sevilla. Emery is great,” Oliseh said.
The former Nigerian international added that Gunners failed to fully support Emery during his tenure and insisted that the club made a major mistake by sacking him.
“I think he is probably one of the best things to happen to Arsenal. But, out of mistake, they let him go. If they had given him the same support they gave Arteta… Emery took Arsenal to the European Cup final. And they had average players,” Oliseh continued.

Is The Ex-Super Eagles Star Right About Unai Emery?
Emery, who managed Arsenal between 2018 and 2019, guided the Gunners to the UEFA Europa League final in his first season before being dismissed after a poor run of form.
Since then, the 53-year-old has rebuilt his reputation, leading Villarreal to Europa League glory in 2021 and transforming Aston Villa into one of the Premier League’s most exciting sides.
