The former Leicester City attacker is one of the most sought-after forwards in European football, and with a future in Atalanta currently out of the question, interest is heating up.
According to the report, Hansi Flick’s Barcelona have contacted the player’s representatives to evaluate a potential move for Lookman, but the financial situation of the 2015 treble winners stands in the way.
Additionally, Juventus want to prioritise a move for Lookman, but Atalanta raised their asking fee for the Bianconeri, and would only sell for around €65m, €10m more than their fee for clubs outside Italy.
The Premier League looks like a perfect fit for Lookman, and a return to the place where he started his football career would make headlines, but he’s spoilt for choice.
For Chelsea, he’ll be an undisputed starter. Enzo Maresca’s side are in a tough situation with Jadon Sancho, and none of their wingers have been exceptional. Bringing Lookman in would make the Blues title contenders, plus, he can play as a makeshift centre-forward.
Arsenal on the other hand, are out of depth in attack. Lookman will fit into the left side of Arteta’s attack, and is an instant upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli.
The Gunners are looking to add a trophy to their cabinet under Mikel Arteta, and the addition of the 2024 UEFA Europa League winner will boost their chances of achieving such.
Liverpool also need to replace Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota in the summer, while Manchester United are dreadful in attack.
It’ll be interesting to see where Lookman ends up this summer, and his transfer situation will be one to keep an eye on.
