Italian giants AS Roma have opened talks to bring Nigeria forward Rinsola  Babajide to Serie A this summer, Footynaija.com understands.

An exclusive from Rome‑based daily  Il Romanista says the Giallorosse have placed the 24‑year‑old at the top of their wishlist after a sensational year with UDG Tenerife, where she posted 10 goals and five assists in just 26 Liga F appearances.

Born in London to Nigerian parents, Babajide cut her teeth with Crystal Palace and Liverpool before spells at Brighton & Hove Albion and Real Betis.

A relentless presser with searing acceleration down the left, she is viewed in Trigoria as the ideal foil for Valentina Giacinti as Roma look to challenge for the Serie A Femminile crown. AS Roma finished the 2024-25 season third in the league, a low from their previous campaign when they lifted the Serie A, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana treble.

The deal for Babajide is on hold while the Super Falcons star spearheads Nigeria’s charge at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. She opened her tournament by scoring one and creating another in a 3‑0 dismantling of Tunisia, then shone again during the 1‑0 win over Botswana that left the Super Falcons on course for a record‑extending tenth continental title.

Babajide’s journey has already taken her from south London parks to Spain’s Atlantic coast; a switch to the Eternal City would make her the second Nigeria international in Roma’s women’s setup after youngster Shukurat Oladipo.
