Nollywood actor and politician Desmond Elliot recently made headlines on social media with the unique outfit he wore to the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
Elliot turned heads in a striking black two-piece ensemble that included a shirt and a skirt, both featuring a bold elephant print. The daring outfit sparked mixed reactions online, but Elliot revealed that there is a deeper meaning behind his fashion choice.
In a recent interview, Elliot discussed the inspiration for his statement style. He stated, “I am more involved in politics now, and it means that whenever I have the opportunity, I should present myself differently. Don’t make too much noise, but let people see significance in what you are doing. It can go one of two ways: it can be successful, or it can completely backfire. Life is about taking chances, and at 50, it’s crucial to take bold chances.”
He continued, “What gives me confidence now is the elephant imprint, which has always been my mantra because of what the elephant represents—power, strength, loyalty, stability, and love.”
When asked if he enjoys the attention that comes with being in the spotlight, Elliot responded, “I wouldn’t say I love it, but it’s acceptable. Right now, I try not to go to extremes. When you encounter what is often termed a ‘midlife crisis,’ you begin to reflect on your feelings in the moment. Generally, I just want to express that everyone should live their own lives.”
Regarding the possibility of experiencing a midlife crisis, Desmond Elliot added, “That is if I’m not still in it.”
