An ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Abdulsalami Olaitan, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State.

Olaitan, who is the former National Coordinator of Umbrella for Every Home and a former Secretary of the Atiku Abubakar Southwest Assembly, said his decision marks the beginning of a new political chapter.

In a statement issued and made available to AMILOADED on Tuesday, he explained that the PDP had played a significant role in his political journey, providing him with a platform to learn, serve and work with passionate individuals.

The Osun politician noted that while he remains grateful for the experiences gained in the PDP, he believes the time has come to pursue a fresh direction guided by conscience and courage.

Olaitan stated that his resignation does not signal a retreat but rather a step into a new phase of bold political engagement.

He added that although the path ahead may be uncertain, he is committed to championing a vision of justice, accountability and progress.

Also in his resignation letter sighted by AMILOADED and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman, Olaitan expressed appreciation for the opportunities and experiences he gained as a member of the party, noting that his involvement in past governorship and presidential elections enriched his personal and political growth.

He further stated that after careful consideration, he decided to step away from active participation in the PDP to pursue future endeavors, while wishing the party continued success in its activities.

The former PDP stalwart emphasized that his exit from the party is not an end but the start of another journey in his political career.
