Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday, joined a host of Nigeria’s past and present leaders to celebrate the 70th birthday of former Bauchi State governor and ex-Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Adamu Muazu.
The high-profile event, held in Bauchi, brought together an influential lineup of dignitaries, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President Kashim Shettima, former military Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd), former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, among others.
In a post shared via his official 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) handle, Atiku described the celebration as a moment to reflect on the role Muazu played in building the foundation for modern governance in Nigeria.
“Yesterday, I joined my boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, and Vice President Kashim Shettima, along with many other prominent Nigerian leaders, in paying tribute to Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Muazu,” Atiku wrote.
The former VP, who served from 1999 to 2007 under Obasanjo, recalled Muazu’s significant contributions to governance and the PDP.
“As Vice President of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007, I worked with Muazu and other governors who served within that period to lay the foundation for good governance and a private sector-led economic growth for Nigeria,” he added.
Muazu, who governed Bauchi State from 1999 to 2007, was widely praised at the event for his developmental strides and leadership style. Known in political circles as the “game changer,” Muazu went on to serve as PDP National Chairman, a role in which he led the party through crucial electoral periods.
Atiku lauded the celebrant’s resilience and dedication to nation-building.
“I used the occasion to congratulate Mu’azu and wish him many more years in good health and vitality,” he stated.
