Nigerian filmmaker and actress Mary Njoku has weighed into the trending audio Lamborghini brouhaha between music star Burna Boy and socialite, Sophia Egbueje.
Kemi Filani reported that a leaked audio of Sophia narrating how Burna Boy slept with her and didn’t give her the Lamborghini he promised her surfaced online.
Reacting to it, Mary noted how Nigerians are always focused on the scandal itself rather than the betrayal behind it. She stated that a private conversation is private as she noted how there would be chaos if we all had our unfiltered thoughts or venting moments.
Mary further noted how nobody is perfect and we all have said things in confidence that wouldn’t sit well if taken out of context. Mary pointed out the real issue, which she said is trust and how easily people throw it away for clout, personal gain, or wickedness.
“It’s wild how people always seem to focus on the scandal itself rather than the betrayal behind it. A private conversation is just private. If we all had our unfiltered thoughts or venting moments leaked, there would be chaos. Nobody is perfect, and we all say things in confidence that wouldn’t sit well if taken out of context.
The real issue here is trust and how easily people throw it away for clout, personal gain, or just plain wickedness.
But Nigerians have this habit of fixating on the drama rather than the principle. It’s frustrating, but not surprising”.
Mary Njoku, in an Instagram post in November, had frowned at 21-year-old girls who are getting Botox. She questioned if having a lifeless face is now the new trend, as she admonished them to embrace their youth while they still can. She told parents to teach their daughters to embrace and celebrate their natural selves, as self-esteem is everything.
Back in September, actress, Mary Njoku had sent a message to Nigerian religious women, noting how there was nothing wrong with IVF. She admonished religious women to feel free to include IVF in their testimonies so that God can use them to inspire and bless other families as well.
In other news, the wife of Jason Njoku had sent a wake-up call to social media users. She revealed that she misses the days when people would confront others when they mess up and have team conversations with them. She noted how what people do these days is to become keyboard warriors and seek sympathy and temporary fame on social media instead of facing issues head-on.
Also, in 2023, Njoku posed an important question to celebrities on life after stardom. Pointing out how no one stays at the top forever, Mary questioned what would become of them once their fame ended. She further asked if they have a real life to fall back on or have burnt down their real life.
