Staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) were in a jubilant mood on Wednesday as they welcomed back their Director-General, Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, with shouts of joy and singing.
In a video shared on 𝕏, the staff members were heard singing ‘baba oyoyooh’ as Dembos made his return to the office.
Naijaonpoint recalls that President Bola Tinubu had, in August, sacked the management team of NTA and approved the appointment of a new Director-General and two Executive Directors for the national station.
According to a statement by the presidency, the fresh appointments are aimed at strengthening national broadcasting.
However, President Tinubu, on September 2, directed the recall of Dembos as the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
This was made known in a statement on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Dembos was appointed DG of the TV network by President Tinubu in October 2023. He will now return to complete his three-year tenure.
The President similarly directed the recall of Mr Ayo Adewuyi, the Executive Director of News, to complete his three-year tenure, which ends in 2027.
Folloing the fresh presidential directive, Dembos returned to his position on Wednesday and was joyfully welcomed by staff members.
In an emotion-laden voice, Dembos expressed his appreciation to the staff members for welcoming him back. He also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and promised to discharge his responsibilities faithfully.
