Kenyan musician and content creator Bahati Kioko has issued a heartfelt public apology following recent backlash over his controversial online behavior and content.
In an emotional statement shared on his social media platforms, Bahati admitted that he may have disappointed his fans and supporters, asking for forgiveness from the public.
“Naomba mnisamehe. Mimi ni yatima, nimelelewa children’s home, kuna vitu sijui,” Bahati said, suggesting that his upbringing might have influenced some of his actions.
The apology comes after weeks of criticism from fans who accused the singer of chasing clout through provocative posts and videos that many felt were not in line with his earlier gospel image.
Bahati, who rose to fame through gospel hits such as Mama and Barua, has in recent years shifted towards a more secular image — a move that has sparked mixed reactions across the country.
Despite the controversies, Bahati maintained that he is still learning and growing as a person, adding that fame and pressure from the entertainment industry sometimes lead to poor decisions.
“Sij perfect, lakini najaribu. Naomba mashabiki wangu waniombee na wanielewe,” he added.

Bahati’s wife, Diana Marua, has also expressed support for her husband, saying that every person deserves grace and understanding.
