A new trailer for Battlefield 6 highlights content coming in Season 1, which will include new maps, modes, and more. Battlefield 6 launched on October 10, but in typical multiplayer FPS fashion, it isn’t gearing up for Season 1 until October 28. The game hit the ground running with eight modes and nine maps, which will expand to ten modes and eleven maps in Season 1.
The new trailer, available on the official Battlefield YouTube channel, offers a highlight reel of the major new additions. A 4v4 mode called Strikepoint and the new Blackwell Fields map will be added at the start of the season, while a Sabotage mode and a Southern California map called Eastwood will join on November 18. Season 1’s final phase of content, Winter Offensive, will launch on December 9.
Battlefield 6 Season 1 Adds Strikepoint, Sabotage, & More
The PlayStation Blog goes into more detail on Battlefield 6‘s Season 1 additions. Strikepoint is described as a hardcore close-quarters mode with two squads of four, providing each player with only one life per round. Sabotage is still close-quarters but more casual, tasking teams of eight with destroying caches as quickly as possible.
The Blackwell Fields map covers a “massive oil field” that catches fire easily, providing plenty of hazards and opportunities for the map to transform as matches progress. Eastwood switches to suburban warfare, putting pricey homes on the frontline and giving players golf carts to drive around.
As for new weapons, Battlefield 6 is adding the SOR-300C carbine, Mini Fix sniper rifle, and GGH-22 sidearm. The Traverser Mk. 2 is a new armored personnel carrier, and new Rail Covers and Low Powered Variable Optics join the roster of gun attachments.
Battlefield 6 Is Off To A Strong Start
The Battlefield 6 Season 1 content might not appeal to every player, especially with the major focus on close-quarters combat. Smaller matches can help Battlefield 6 rival competitors like Call of Duty, but they don’t necessarily play into the grand scale of warfare that gives Battlefield 6 its unique edge.
It’s all good for variety, though, and Battlefield 6 already has a great lineup of content. After the general disappointment of Battlefield 2042, it’s been a strong return to form for the series, and it might get even better with time.
Battlefield 6‘s Season 1 is also emphasizing that all playable content will continue to be free or earnable. If you’re having fun with the game so far, there should be plenty more enjoyment to find in the future.
