Bauchi 2023: Who’s on hyper alert?

On January 29, 2023, the Bauchi state governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Air Marshal Saddique Baba Abubakar (rtd), toured Akuyam in Misau local government area of Bauchi state in his bid to gain their support politically. Unfortunately, gun shots by his security guards resulted in the death of one person with many others injured.

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has been crying on top of his voice that some gubernatorial candidates are scheming to use anything at their disposal to get voted into power. But his alarm was dismissed as a mere mischief of an opponent.

However, do-or-die politics is something new for the good people of Bauchi state, as it has been a peaceful state full of educated individuals who are very difficult to be manipulated by anyone.

The Bauchi state APC gubernatorial candidate should be tolerant of all manner of criticisms during his campaign rallies. Politicking is not war  where weapons are used, it is rather an avenue to appeal to the electorate to gain their full support.

I would equally like to draw the attention of the good people of Bauchi state to desist from attacking any candidate who reaches out to them soliciting their votes. Otherwise, nothing positive would yield but disappointment as well as a show of disrespect towards their leaders.

Therefore, I would like to call on our leaders in Bauchi state to shun all acts of bloody campaigns that could disturb the peace of the state.

Mallam Musbahu Magayaki,

Sabon Fegi, Azare,

Bauchi state
