THE Shira Local Government Councillors in Bauchi State have removed Chairman Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Beli and Deputy Chairman Hon. Usman Adamu from office.
Their dismissal followed an investigative committee’s findings, which confirmed allegations of financial mismanagement, failure to perform official duties, and abuse of power.
A resolution signed by ten councillors, including Council Leader Hon. Wali Adamu and his deputy, formally declared the Chairman and Deputy Chairman’s positions vacant with immediate effect.
The resolution stated, “The removal of the Chairman and his deputy is based on the investigation committee’s findings, which established their involvement in financial mismanagement, failure to perform their duties, and breach of public trust.”
Speaking to journalists, the Council Leader explained that both officials had faced mounting scrutiny over their governance.
He noted that despite multiple warnings, their failure to meet their responsibilities had eroded public trust, making their removal unavoidable.
Efforts to obtain comments from Beli and Adamu have so far been unsuccessful.
