BAUCHI: Gov appoints Chinese national as economic adviser

Bala6

THE Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed has appointed Li Zhensheng, a Chinese national, as the state’s Economic Adviser, in a move aimed at deepening international cooperation and driving economic growth.

The announcement came yesterday during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bauchi State Government and the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre in Bauchi.

Under the agreement, a Bauchi State Representative Office will be established in China to oversee joint projects and ensure timely delivery.

Governor Mohammed said the partnership—covering sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade—aligns with the diplomatic framework between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.

He described it as a step towards positioning Bauchi as a hub for global investment, promising job creation, skills development, and improved infrastructure.

“This is not just about infrastructure—it’s about transforming lives and opening Bauchi to the world,” the governor stated.

Zhensheng, who also chairs the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, pledged the Centre’s commitment to mobilising global resources to support Bauchi’s development agenda, with a focus on sustainable growth, modern infrastructure, and better livelihoods.
