Former Portugal Liga champions Benfica will reignite their pursuit of Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare in the summer amid interest from other top clubs in Europe, Soccernet.ng reports.
Arokodare has been attracting interest from some top clubs in Europe following his impressive performances for Genk.
This season, the Super Eagles striker has put up 22 goals and seven assists in 40 appearances across all competitions. He has played an important role in the club’s push for a fifth Jupiler League title.
Following his impressive performances this season, Arokodare got his first two Super Eagles caps last month. Also, he has been linked with clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Stuttgart, and Bayern Munich.~~~
Now, in a new report according to Futebol 365, Benfica could try to sign Arokodare in the summer.
The Portuguese giants showed interest in signing the Super Eagles star last summer, but it did not work out. Now, they are looking to go all out and sign the big 24-year-old hitman to boost their squad as they compete in Portugal and on the continent next season.
Would Tolu Arokodare flourish at Benfica?
Tolu Arokodare has shown a lot of potential in his stay at Genk, but there is still a big room for improvement, and Benfica might be the right place for him.
The Portuguese league has had some top strikers across the years like Darwin Nunez, and Viktor Gyokeres, who is shining at Sporting. Arokodare would be joining a top club that would even allow him to play Champions League football and win trophies.
If the money is right a move to Benfica is one he should seriously consider as that could set the stage for a bigger transfer in the future.
