THE Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of six suspects in connection with a violent attack on Police Tactical Teams in Benue State.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said in a statement that the incident occurred on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Agu Centre in Katsina-Ala/Ukum Local Government Area.
The attack, carried out by suspected armed herdsmen and local militias, left three police officers dead, while seven others remain unaccounted for.
According to Hundeyin, the Commissioner of Police in Benue, CP Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, is personally leading ongoing rescue and recovery operations.
The arrested suspects are said to be assisting investigators with valuable information.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, strongly condemned the attack, describing it as “cruel, unwarranted, and an affront to the people of Benue State.”
He ordered the deployment of additional tactical units to the state, vowing that security agencies will dismantle the criminal networks behind the assault.
The Police appealed to residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with security personnel, assuring that every effort is being made to rescue the missing officers and restore peace in Katsina-Ala and surrounding communities.
