Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Big Brother 27’s finale!Big Brother 27 host Julie Chen Moonves explains the winner’s “masterpiece” performance as a new champion of the reality TV show is crowned. In the final episode of Big Brother 27, contestant Ashley Hollis was crowned the winner of the season. This came after she won the Final Head of Household, voting off Morgan Pope and winning via jury selection.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Moonves explained how Ashley’s performance helped her win Big Brother 27. The host explained how she won at a number of critical points, including Veto during the first week. She praised her for the answers she gave to the final questions, which she credits to being part of why she won over Vince Panaro:
Ashley may be the best winner who really got a chance to not sweat it out week after week. She won when it was crucial. To win Veto when she was the target week one and then sail her way to the final three and win the last HOH is truly remarkable. But her arguments as to why she deserved to win over Vince and how she handled the jury questions was truly a masterpiece. Plus, she didn’t have any upset jurors. Quite the opposite, she had people rooting for her to take home the grand prize. Impressive!
You really got to see the lawyer come out in Ashley with that quote. I almost wanted to hand her the check right there. Vince didn’t do a bad job answering questions. He did a nice job reminding people what competitions he won and the skills he had to win them: physical, mental/memory and a balance competition. But the jury liked Ashley more and she hit a home run with her arguments.
What Ashley Hollis’ Win Means For Big Brother 27
Hollis faced danger from the start of Big Brother 27‘s weekly eliminations, but used the Power of Veto to keep herself safe in the early days. Ever since, she continued to win where it mattered, powering through the hardship of some rounds to make it to the end. It helps that other contestants’ decisions protected her on her way up.
By the time the finale rolled around, she was only facing Morgan and Vince for the winning spot. While Morgan was guaranteed a spot in the Final Round early on, it was HoH Round 2, “Unmask the Mastermind,” that helped Ashley advance. Vince wasn’t able to keep his lead, allowing her to make it to the final round.
Ashley wound up winning with a 6-1 vote from the jury, an overwhelming confirmation that she won. Ashley’s Big Brother 27 win made sense given everything she’d been through, with her final speech bolstered by her background as an attorney. Given how impressed Moonves is by her abilities, it’s clear she was destined to be the winner.
Our Take On Ashley’s Big Brother 27 Win
Given how well she performed in the final rounds, it’s not surprising Ashley had such sway on the jury to have them vote her as the winner. The advancements she made throughout the season aided her when it mattered the most, giving her all the advantages she needed to rise to the top and become the show’s newest champion.
Morgan and Vince still did their best in the final rounds, though, earning their placements with their own memorable performances throughout the show. But, in the last stretch of Big Brother 27, Ashley did everything right, and was able to rightfully earn her place at the top. The intensity of her struggles wound up being worth it in the end.
