Bisi Akande Visits Buhari’s Family, Recalls Last Meeting

Former Governor of Osun State, Bisi Akande, stated that late former President Muhammadu Buhari did not show any sign of being unwell during their last meeting.

Naijaonpoint reports that Akande made this known on Wednesday in Kaduna State during a condolence visit to the family of the late president.

The pioneer National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led a delegation of political associates to the Buhari residence, where he expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the former president.

The elder statesman described the late Buhari as “an angel in human flesh” and a patriotic leader whose legacy will endure.

Akande said the news of Buhari’s death came as a shock while he was outside the country.

He said, “I first heard that he died when I was abroad. Before then, I met him in Daura after our feast, he was looking robust, healthy and very strong.

“In a joke, I said I was going back to my village. He said he was enjoying his village in Daura.

“When he moved to Kaduna, I planned to visit him here, and then I heard he had travelled.”

Meanwhile, domestic workers at late Buhari’s Daura residence say the emptiness left behind is yet to be filled.

Naijaonpoint reports that Buhari, who died at a London hospital on July 13, 2025, aged 82, was buried in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State. Known for his humility and personal touch, the former president was described as more than just an employee.

One worker, who requested anonymity, told Punch, “Our late boss was more than our employer, he was a guardian and a close friend to us and our families. This one month with the thought of his no return has indeed shown a cool world of emptiness around here.”

Another staff member recounted Buhari’s habit of attending personal events of his workers.

The worker said, “He would visit our homes for condolences or naming ceremonies, staying for hours to offer comfort and prayers without regard for his status. He will be missed because we have lost a friend, mentor, and employer. His presence brought us pride.”
