Blake Lively was not shy about asking for help as post-production on It Ends With Us intensified.
According to a May 2024 email included in a recent court filing, the actress reached out to her former The Town costar Ben Affleck for feedback on her cut of the film.
In the message, Lively described an exhausting creative process and claimed she rewrote and restructured the script, which was officially credited to screenwriter Christy Hall.
“I also ended up having to direct the movie,” she wrote, alleging ongoing conflict with her costar and director Justin Baldoni. “That’s all the same person,” she added, noting the chaos behind the scenes.

Lively asked Affleck if he could watch her version if he had “1:58 of free time,” insisting there was “zero pressure.”
She even invited his then-wife, Jennifer Lopez, and his children to weigh in. “I just really want this to work after all I’ve put into it,” Lively wrote. “This movie nearly killed me.”
The email ended on a playful note. “If you’re still reading this,” she joked, “you’re a very nice person.”
