Fighters belonging to the Boko Haram faction loyal to Ali Ngulde have reportedly beheaded two women in the Mandara Mountain axis of Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State after accusing them of engaging in shirk (idolatry).
According to sources familiar with insurgent activities in the region, the women were intercepted during a routine search around the terrorists’ mountain settlements.
Counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, who obtained footage of the incident, reported that the insurgents claimed the women were found with charms (layu), which they immediately considered evidence of “forbidden practices.”
Makama disclosed that the women were dragged before the faction’s makeshift “trial” system, where the fighters pronounced them guilty of practising shirk after allegedly finding charms in their possession.
A source quoted by Makama said, “The terrorists took them to a secluded part of the mountains and executed them after the so-called trial.”
The execution was reportedly conducted in the presence of fighters and civilians living under the group’s control, a tactic aimed at instilling fear and enforcing strict adherence to the faction’s extremist doctrines.
Makama further noted that the Ali Ngulde faction has recently escalated its brutal enforcement tactics, targeting individuals accused of sorcery, spying, or attempting to defect from the group.
