The Nigerian Air Force has announced the successful execution of targeted airstrikes across parts of the North-East and North-West, resulting in the destruction of terrorist enclaves, weapons stockpiles, and logistics infrastructure.
In a statement released on Saturday, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed that the operations were carried out between January 1 and 2 under the joint task forces of Operation Hadin Kai and Operation Fagan Yamma Sector 2.
Ejodame said the air strikes were based on actionable intelligence regarding terrorist movements and planned attacks. NAF deployed air assets to target identified hideouts, movement routes, and assembly points.
“These operations reinforce the Service’s resolve to deny terrorists freedom of movement, operational depth, and any form of sanctuary within Nigeria’s sovereign territory,” he said.
In the North-East, precision airstrikes were launched at Abirma and Chiralia in the Timbuktu Triangle, where surveillance confirmed terrorist facilities used for producing improvised explosive devices and planning attacks.
“The strikes resulted in the complete destruction of targeted structures, with multiple secondary explosions observed, clear indicators of the elimination of explosive stockpiles and critical logistics,” Ejodame noted.
Follow-up strikes were also conducted at Guva in the Mandara Mountains, dismantling terrorist coordination nodes and storage facilities.
“These operations further dismantled terrorist storage and coordination nodes, severely degrading their ability to regroup, resupply, or mount attacks during the festive period and beyond,” he added.
The campaign extended to the North-West with an air interdiction mission around Karaduwa Giginya Na in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
“Terrorist elements were tracked moving in large motorcycle convoys and were engaged at a forested convergence point,” Ejodame revealed.
Post-strike assessments confirmed the neutralisation of several fighters, the destruction of motorcycles, and the elimination of assorted weapons.
“These sustained, multi-theatre strikes underscore the Nigerian Air Force’s overwhelming airpower presence, rapid strike capability, and unwavering resolve to systematically dismantle terrorist networks,” the NAF spokesman asserted.
He assured that the operations would continue to support ground troops in all theatres.
“The Nigerian Air Force assures Nigerians that these operations will continue with precision, persistence, and professionalism in support of joint forces on the ground. Terrorist elements threatening innocent lives will be met with decisive force,” Ejodame said.
He reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to civilian protection, national security objectives, and the restoration of peace and stability across affected regions.
