Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has named Dayot Upamencano, Jonathan Tah and Kim Min-Jae as the toughest defenders he has faced in his career, Soccernet.ng reports.

Boniface has grown to become one of the best strikers in the world following his series of impressive performances for German club Bayer Leverkusen.

The Nigerian striker joined Die Werkself last year, and he has registered 27 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances. Boniface has registered some of his goal involvements against top sides like AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig.

The 23-year-old striker has also done well against some of the best defenders in the game. But in a recent interview, Boniface revealed three of the toughest defenders he has faced.

For context, Boniface has played against defenders like Arsenal stars William Saliba, Gabriel Meghalles, AC Milan star Fikayo Tomori, and Borussia Dortmund man Mats Hummels. However, none of them really stood out for him. Rather, he picked Bayern Munich’s defenders Upamencano, Min-Jae, and his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Tah as the toughest he has played against.

As Boniface continues to excel in his career, he will face even tougher defenders. And it is very likely that his opinion will change.

The 23-year-old is currently in the Super Eagles camp ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Libya. He will be looking to produce some fireworks if he takes to the pitch for Nigeria.
