IN a major military success, Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai neutralized at least 60 terrorists in an overnight joint operation in Bita, Borno State.

According to a statement released by the Nigerian Army today, the insurgents launched an assault on the 26 Task Force Brigade at approximately 1:09 am.

In response, ground forces and air units executed a simultaneous counter-offensive that resulted in significant enemy casualties.

“In a decisive and coordinated operation, gallant troops of Operation Hadin Kai launched a simultaneous land and air assault on terrorist positions in Bita,” the Army stated via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle. “The intense battle resulted in the neutralization of at least 60 terrorists.”

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) also confirmed the operation’s success. Its spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said NAF combat aircraft executed precision airstrikes on fleeing insurgents, describing the strikes as among the most decisive blows delivered to terrorist forces in recent months.

“The highly coordinated operation, executed under the cover of darkness, represents a major leap in efforts to dismantle the operational capabilities of terrorist elements in the North East,” Ejodame said.

Following the air and land offensive, clearance operations are underway to consolidate the gains.

The NAF assured Nigerians of its continued commitment to national security and its mission to eliminate terrorist strongholds.

This development marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing counterinsurgency efforts in the North East region.
