Borussia Dortmund make transfer call on ₦63 billion star on the radar of Super Eagles boss Eric Chelle

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly keen to keep Chelsea loanee Carney Chukwuemeka beyond the current season, following a series of impressive performances in black and yellow, Footynaija.com reports.

Chukwuemeka, 21, joined Dortmund on loan in February, with an option to make the move permanent in the summer. While the terms of a full transfer remain complex, the Bundesliga club are said to be confident they can reach an agreement with Chelsea.

The England U-17 World Cup winner played a decisive role in Dortmund’s recent 3-2 comeback victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach.

BVB boss Niko Kovac praised Chukwuemeka’s influence after he came on for the injured Maximilian Beier in the 35th minute, helping to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead before half-time.

The midfielder was involved in all three goals, underlining his potential after a frustrating start to life in Germany due to injury.

According to German journalist Oliver Müller on the Sport1 podcast Die Dortmund-Woche as per Bvbwld, Dortmund have already made an internal decision to pursue a permanent deal.

However, several financial hurdles remain. The purchase clause in Chukwuemeka’s loan deal is reportedly set at €35 million (around ₦63.8 billion), and Dortmund are expected to negotiate a reduced fee. Chelsea are also said to be interested in Dortmund youngster Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, which could influence talks.

Meanwhile, Chukwuemeka’s international future remains open.

Eligible for England, Austria, and Nigeria, he is reportedly on the radar of new Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, who is seeking to bolster his squad ahead of key World Cup qualifiers and the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
