The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned the Commandant of the Nigeria Peace Corps, Dickson Akon, and the organisation’s Director of Finance, Omolola Aminat Ahmed, before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court over alleged misappropriation of N60 million belonging to the Corps.
The duo appeared before Justice H. B. Yusuf of the FCT High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, brought by the EFCC’s Abuja Zonal Directorate to face a two-count charge of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of funds allocated to the organisation.
According to the EFCC, the defendants allegedly conspired in 2024 to commit criminal misappropriation, an offence said to contravene Section 96 of the Penal Code Law of the FCT.
One of the charges states:
“That you, Dickson Akon and Omolola Aminat Ahmed, in the year 2024 at Abuja, FCT, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did agree among yourselves to do an illegal act, to wit: criminal misappropriation, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 96 of the Penal Code Laws of the FCT.”
The second count accuses the pair of dishonestly converting N46 million out of N60 million earmarked for a contract to supply badges to the Corps:
“That you, Dickson Akon and Omolola Aminat Ahmed, in the year 2024 at Abuja, FCT, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did agree among yourselves and dishonestly converted to your personal use the sum of N46,000,000 out of the sum of N60,000,000 meant for the execution of contract for the supply of badges.”
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges when read to them.
Prosecution counsel Khalid Sanusi requested a trial commencement date, after which Justice Yusuf adjourned proceedings to February 25, 2026.
The court granted bail of ₦5 million each, with each defendant required to produce one surety of reputable character residing in Abuja.
