Former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has dismissed rumours circulating on social media alleging that he had died, insisting that he is alive and in good health.
Obiano, who governed Anambra between 2014 and 2022, addressed the claims in a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Friday.
In the statement, the former governor assured Ndi Anambra and his supporters that he is “alive, hale, hearty, and in excellent health.”
His message read: “My beloved Ndi Anambra, friends, and well-wishers, I woke to hear of a rumour making the rounds about my wellbeing. Let me assure you personally: I am alive, hale, hearty, and in excellent health. By the special grace of God, I am doing very well.”
Obiano described the rumour as the handiwork of those who “find joy in spreading falsehood,” adding that the motive behind such fabrications remained unclear.
Obiano also thanked those who reached out to confirm his well-being.
“To everyone who reached out with calls, messages, and prayers, I sincerely appreciate your concern. Your love and goodwill mean more than words can express,” he said.
He urged the public to disregard the misleading report completely, saying he remains focused and guided by God.
Concluding his statement, Obiano added: “Please disregard the rumour entirely. We remain focused, grateful, and guided by God’s grace. Daalu nu, and may God bless you all.”
