BREAKING: Explosion Rocks General Hospital in Bagudo, Kebbi

An explosion early Tuesday shook the General Hospital in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Confirming the incident, Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said security agencies quickly moved to secure the area following the blast.

“The Kebbi State Police Command wishes to assure the public that we have full control of the situation after the explosion at the General Hospital, Bagudo,” Usman stated.

He added that a joint security team, including police, military, and vigilante operatives—cordoned off the area, while Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) specialists assessed the scene.

“We are grateful to confirm that there were no casualties. A building within the staff quarters was damaged, but occupants had already evacuated safely,” the police spokesman said.

Usman noted that the state’s Commissioner of Police had deployed additional tactical teams to maintain public order and reassure residents.

“A comprehensive investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the explosion, and further updates will be provided as necessary,” he added.

The police urged residents to remain calm and avoid the immediate vicinity of the hospital to allow security operatives to carry out their work effectively.
