The annual Maltina Teacher Of The Year competition received a boost as the organisers, the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, on Wednesday, unveiled Honda HR-V car as an added star prize for the winner of the 2026 edition.
The Honda HR-V, donated by Honda Automobile Nigeria Limited is part of a grand prize award featuring a ₦10 million cash prize, an international capacity development training, a school infrastructure project, and a one-year supply of Maltina.
The 12th and 2026 edition of the Maltina Teacher of the Year competition will be flagged off today.
The event, which drew key stakeholders from the education sector, corporate partners, and the media, marked the beginning of another cycle of the yearly initiative aimed at recognising and rewarding exceptional teachers across the country.
The competition that has rewarded over 300 teachers is sponsored by the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, has grown since its inception in 2015 into one of the most recognised platforms promoting quality education and rewarding exceptional teachers in Nigeria.
Past winners are Mrs. Rose Nkemdilim Obi (2015); Mr. Imoh Enoh Essien (2016); Mr. Ariguzo Udochukwu (2017); Mr. Olasunkanmi Opeifa (2018); Mr. Ezem Collins (2019), and
Ms. Oluwabunmi Anani (2020).
Others are Mr. Abanika Taiye, (2021); Mr. Ayiwulu Alaku (2022); Ms. Adeola Adefemi (2023); Mr. Esomnofu Chidiebube (2024), and
Ms. Serah Yusuf (2025).
