Renowned media mogul and politician Dele Momodu has revealed a key move former Vice President Atiku Abubakar should make to be considered a threat to President Bola Tinubu’s reelection in 2027.
According to Momodu, Atiku’s success lies in his ability to galvanize a mega-political party.
Momodu’s remark was made in response to former Governor Ayodele Fayose’s advice to Atiku to refrain from running for the Nigerian presidency in the future. Fayose had cited Atiku’s age as a major factor.
During an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today programme, Momodu said that Atiku’s age should not be a hindrance to his candidacy. He cited international examples, such as U.S. President Joe Biden and Donald Trump’s ongoing participation in politics.
Momodu praised Atiku’s impressive political track record, describing him as a true democrat who has never exerted tyrannical control in his political journey.
He further pointed out the inconsistency in Fayose’s argument, noting that if the proponents of younger leadership were serious, they would have backed figures like Yemi Osinbajo, Bukola Saraki, Aminu Tambuwal, Chibuike Amaechi, Peter Obi, or Rabiu Kwankwaso in the 2023 election.
