Ladi Adebutu, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) former governorship candidate in Ogun State, has been released from Department of State Services (DSS) custody.
His media aide, Afolabi Orekoya, confirmed his release to Channels Television early Tuesday morning.
Adebutu’s arrest was previously confirmed by Kayode Adebayo, the PDP Publicity Secretary in Ogun State, on Monday. According to Adebayo, Adebutu was invited for questioning regarding alleged disturbances during the local government elections held on November 16, 2024.
The elections saw the All Progressives Congress (APC) win all seats.
Adebutu, who was the PDP’s governorship candidate in 2023, was accused of deploying illegal police officers to perpetrate violence during the election in the Iperu area of the state.
