Nigerian content creator and fast-rising Nollywood actor, Odira Nwobu, has reportedly passed away, sparking widespread grief across the entertainment community.

The news of his death surfaced on Monday after blogger and fellow content creator, Awuzie Frankline, announced the development in an emotional Facebook post. Frankline also shared a video showing the actor lying motionless, though he did not disclose what may have led to the tragedy.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned Nwobu died just hours after a night out at a club in South Africa over the weekend. A member of his team also confirmed his death to this newspaper via Phone Call.

Frankline, visibly shaken by the news, expressed his disbelief and sorrow in multiple posts.
“God, why! Odira, why leave us?” he wrote. “The call I received now was not a good one. Odiegwu.”

In another post, he recalled seeing Nwobu vibrant and full of life not long ago.

“You were full of life even some hours ago in South Africa, and you even had your thanksgiving service just a few months ago. Many people came to celebrate with you. How can you return from South Africa lifeless? I am drowning in tears. Death is rude. I am heartbroken,” he wrote.

Comedian Evan Okoro also reacted to the news, sharing a photo of Nwobu with the caption:
“How? No… I can’t believe this. Nooooo.”

Nwobu, known for his humorous skits and appearances in several Nollywood productions, had built a growing fanbase both online and on screen. His sudden passing has triggered an outpouring of condolences from colleagues and supporters who are still struggling to come to terms with the news.
