President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Tokyo, Japan, for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.

Tinubu touched down in the Japanese capital at 1:00 a.m. local time on Monday, where he was received by Ambassador Hideo Matsubara, Japan’s envoy in charge of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).

According to a statement from his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the visit will focus on deepening collaboration in key sectors such as trade, technology, infrastructure development, renewable energy, and education.

The President is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with top Japanese government officials, business leaders, and representatives of major technology firms. He is also expected to push for greater trade relations, technology transfer, and investment opportunities to support Nigeria’s industrialisation agenda.

“This official visit underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to expanding Nigeria’s international partnerships and attracting foreign investment that will drive Nigeria’s economic transformation,” Onanuga stated.
