It seems like the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A16 5G phone will get considerable support via software updates. Based on the leaked promo materials, the phone will get 6 years of OS and security updates.

The budget Galaxy A16 5G phone will get quite a few updates from Samsung

This is a considerable improvement over the Galaxy A15 5G. That phone is guaranteed to get 4 major OS updates and 5 years of security updates. That’s not bad either, but this is a major difference.

Presuming this info is accurate, which is not something we can confirm, that’s a nice move in the right direction for budget smartphones. Samsung and Google have been raising the ante for software support of flagship phones, and now truly budget devices will get a similar treatment, it seems.

This information came in the form of promo images shared by thetechoutlook. Those images also mention some other details. A ‘Glasstic’ design is mentioned, which basically means that you’ll get plastic that feels like glass on the back. The frame will be made out of plastic.

The phone is coming in three colors

The phone will be thinner than its predecessor, while Blue Black, Gold, and Light Green colors are coming. The device is said to include a 6.7-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Its peak brightness will be 800 nits.

The Exynos 1330 or Dimensity 6300 SoC will fuel the device. It’s possible that the Exynos chip will be used in the 4G variant of the phone, actually. 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB RAM models are coming, with 128GB/256GB of internal storage.

This smartphone will also come with an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance. The Galaxy A16 5G will measure 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.9mm, and weigh 192 or 200 grams, depending on the version.

Do note that we’ve been the first to reveal this phone’s design, in case you’re interested.
