In remarks on January 23, 2026, Bwala stressed that President Tinubu fully supports Fubara’s authority as the legitimate APC leader in Rivers State, aligning with APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda’s stance.

He clarified that former governor Nyesom Wike, now in the opposition PDP, holds no sway over APC affairs and cannot undermine Fubara’s leadership.

Bwala highlighted that the president insists governors, regardless of party, deserve autonomy to govern without interference, urging respect for the legal process amid ongoing impeachment tensions.
