The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected Johnny Ikponmwosa Aikpitanyin as its candidate for the forthcoming National Assembly bye-election for Ovia Federal Constituency, scheduled to hold on August 16, 2025.
Naijaonpoint reports that Aikpitanyin, who was the sole aspirant for the position, emerged unopposed at the party’s primary election held on Monday, July 21, in Iguobazuwa, the administrative headquarters of Ovia South-West Local Government Area.
The bye-election was necessitated following the resignation of the former member representing Ovia Federal Constituency, paving the way for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to schedule a fresh poll.
With Aikpitanyin now flying the PDP flag, attention shifts to the major opposition parties as they prepare to unveil their own candidates ahead of the electoral contest.
Meanwhile, Prince Joe Okojie has emerged as the candidate of the Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the August 16, 2025, National Assembly by-elections for Edo Central Senatorial District.
