Bye Elections: APC Announces Schedule For Inauguration Of Screening Appeal Committees

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that it will inaugurate its screening and appeal committees on Monday, July 14, 2025, as part of preparations for upcoming legislative bye-elections across the country.

This was disclosed in a statement posted via the party’s official handle on 𝕏 on Saturday, July 12.

According to the party, the inauguration of committee chairmen and secretaries will be held at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja, by 9:00 a.m.

Naijaonpoint reports that the screening exercise will take place at the designated venue.

According to the press release, the screening of aspirants will commence immediately after the inauguration at 10:00 a.m. at the Amor Hotel, Katampe, located opposite Aso Radio in the Federal Capital Territory.

The APC noted that the committees will be responsible for evaluating aspirants contesting for State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats in the forthcoming bye-elections.

“These committees will be responsible for screening aspirants contesting in the bye-elections across various states,” the statement read.

The APC also released a list of the screening and appeal committees, naming prominent party members to head each.

Some of the key appointments include:

  • State House of Assembly Screening Committee I – chaired by Hon. (Mrs.) Dorah D. Ebong
  • House of Representatives Screening Committee I – led by Arc. Waziri Bulama
  • Senate Screening Committee – chaired by H.E. (Barr.) Ibrahim S. Shema

The party reiterated its commitment to a transparent and credible candidate selection process, stating that the outcome of the screening would help ensure quality representation across the legislative arms.
