The Lagos State Police Command has opened an investigation into Ayanwale Ayodeji, divisional police officer of Olosan station in Mushin, following allegations that he threatened a resident over a dispute involving a damaged vehicle.

The allegation surfaced after Akin Akinwale, a social media user identified by the X handle @mrlurvy, shared an account on Tuesday detailing how a friend’s vehicle “brushed” another car reportedly linked to the DPO’s associate.

Akinwale said his friend immediately volunteered to fix the damage but was allegedly confronted by the officer and his acquaintance, who insisted on detention regardless of the offer.

“The DPO of Olosan Police Station in Mushin, CSP Ayanwale Ayodeji, is threatening to send my friend to jail,” Akinwale said.

“He boldly told him to go and call whoever he knows insisting that he would ensure my friend rots in jail.

“His offence: My friend’s car brushed the car of someone who turns out to be the DPO’s friend.

“Despite my friend immediately offering to repair the damage, the DPO and his friend are now abusing their authority, insisting they will jail him regardless.

“The saddest is the DPO saying that even if the Inspector-General of Police intervenes, he would not listen. This is pure madness and a blatant abuse of power.”

Reacting to the claims, Abimbola Adebisi, Lagos police spokesperson, confirmed that the command had taken up the matter.

“The Command has received this complaint and is currently looking into it,” Adebisi said.
