Caretaker boss Michael Carrick has been named on the six-man shortlist for the Premier League Manager of the Season award after a dramatic turnaround at Manchester United.

Carrick joins managers of Premier League title rivals Mikel Arteta of Arsenal and Pep Guardiola of Manchester City on the shortlist.

Also nominated are Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth, Keith Andrews of Brentford, and Régis Le Bris of Sunderland.

Carrick stepped in on an interim basis in January after the exit of Ruben Amorim and has overseen a sharp rise in results. United have climbed from seventh into the top three and sealed qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Since his appointment on 13 January, no Premier League side has won more points. United have taken 33 during that stretch, while Carrick has won 66.7 per cent of his matches, fuelling calls for the role to be made permanent.

In the Player of the Season category, Arsenal trio David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães and Declan Rice are shortlisted alongside Erling Haaland of Manchester City and Antoine Semenyo of Bournemouth.

They are joined by United captain Bruno Fernandes, Brentford striker Igor Thiago, and Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest.

For Premier League Young Player of the Season, United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, Lewis Hall of Newcastle United, and Mateus Fernandes of West Ham United are among the nominees.

Winners will be decided through a combination of public voting and a panel of football experts.
