Cassie’s explosive testimony nearly broke the internet after the singer testified in court that Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly forced her to refer to him as “Pop Pop” behind closed doors.
According to Cassie, Diddy insisted she call him by the bizarre nickname during his now-infamous “freak-offs,” and in both public and private settings, becoming enraged if he refused or hesitated.
“There were violent arguments that would usually result in some sort of physical abuse,” she told the court. “Dragging, different things of that nature.”
Prosecutors asked the singer what a “freak-off” was.
“It basically entails the hiring of an escort and setting up this experience so that I could perform for Sean,” she responded, adding that Diddy would “actually direct us on what we were doing […] Eventually it became a job for me, pretty much.”
Cassie also revealed that Diddy would record the sessions to use the videos as “blackmail,” adding, “He had many resources to do that. … It was always in the back of my mind that I would somehow be hurt by him.”
The pair reached a settlement in late 2023. The details of the settlement were not disclosed, but it was reported to be in the tens of millions of dollars.
