The 95th annual Academy Awards ceremony took place earlier this month, and many of 2022’s biggest films have garnered some exciting accolades. Throughout the awards’ many years, some categories have been added while others have been removed. One of the more recent big additions was the Best Animated Feature category, which the Academy added in 2001. They also tried to include an award for Best Popular Feature in 2018, but there was a lot of backlash and they didn’t follow through with a category. For many years, people in Hollywood have championed another new category: the best stunts. Hot people work very hard, and there are many movies that deserve recognition from the Academy. Chad Stahelski, the stuntman who went on to direct all four John Wick Movies, he recently had a conversation with her Delivery time on John Wick: Chapter 4 And she opened up about why the Academy included a stunts category.
“Well, let me clarify that a bit, when you say ‘reconsider,’” Stahelski began when asked about the Academy. “What makes you think they really thought about it? Have you ever spoken to anyone in the academy about it or talked to anyone in the stunt world who had spoken to the academy about it?” He continued, “You see the fundamental problem here. I think if I went to the Academy now and asked, “Do any of you think stunts shouldn’t be at the Academy Awards?” could you find one person? I do not think so. Well, what’s the problem here? The problem is that no one is in the conversation. ”
When asked if he had spoken to the Academy, Stahelski replied, “I’m bringing it up with you now, and you’re going to help me put the question to them again. There isn’t one arguable reason why stunts aren’t done at the Academy Awards. No one will deny that we’re at least on equal terms with the Academy.” Every other department. We’re a part of every movie, a big part of Hollywood lore like the music, the costumes, the technical feats, the directing, the cinematography. And none of the people in those departments would deny that. I just think we haven’t talked. I think there are some challenges in That. The stunts department works very differently. The cinematographer is one person, same with the costume designer and the director. Stunts?”
Of his stunt team, Stahelski continued, “I have Scott Rogers, who’s my supervising stunt coordinator, but he handles cars, rigging, and safety. I have Jeremy Arenas, the choreographer who puts all these great moves together. I have three other workers, three choreographers, and two other assistant stunt coordinators. I myself orchestrate the half and my editors put it together. Suppose we win an Oscar for Best stunt. Which of the nine people should get it? And what are you given the Oscar for? There is a big ladder that falls to John Wick, and two awesome car bumpers. There is a big fall out of the window. But effect John Wick Is the general action of the film. So does the award for Best Stunt, Best Stunt Sequence, or Best Fixed Stunt be awarded? Hot guys don’t know the answer. And I guarantee you the Academy doesn’t either. But I believe if all the smart people in the academy and all of our smart people sit at a table, we can figure it out and make it happen. So I’m asking you to take down the challenge to help make this happen.
