A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has claimed that some individuals are taking advantage of the detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking via a Facebook post, he alleged that some individuals are using Kanu’s detention to extort money from people.

Recall that Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, was on November 20, 2025, sentenced to life imprisonment by the Federal High Court in Abuja after being convicted on all seven counts of terrorism filed against him.
The Biafran freedom fighter was subsequently sent to Sokoto prison, where he is expected to serve his jail term.
There has been widespread agitation, especially from the South East, for the release of the secessionist.

Sharing his thoughts, Igbokwe alleged that IPOB members and some lawyers are “cashing out” from Kanu’s detention.
“I have noticed that some unrepentant scammers in Igboland, IPOB fraudsters and some charge and bail lawyers are using the detention of Nnamdi Kanu to cash out.
“It has become a business. Even content creators are not left out”, the APC chieftain wrote.

Meanwhile, Igbokwe has countered former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, over the statement that the ruling party and President Bola Tinubu may likely not win the 2027 election.
Naijaonpoint reports that El-Rufai, while speaking at the 23rd Daily Trust Dialogue, stated that the reign of APC may end after the 2027 general elections.
Reacting, Igbokwe, in a Facebook post, said it is impossible for Tinubu to lose the 2027 election and listed 10 reasons the President will be re-elected in the forthcoming election.
