Former Chelsea and Netherlands striker, Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbank, has admitted he trusts Nicolas Jackson to lead his former side’s attack over Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Blues have secured a place in the UEFA Champions League next season, and are keen on bringing forwards that’ll help them compete on all fronts. Enzo Maresca’s side have already secured the services of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

Jackson has been Chelsea’s second-leading top scorer over the past two seasons, scoring 30 goals and providing 12 assists in 80 games, just behind Cole Palmer, who’s scored 40 in that time, and Hasselbank is convinced he can become a top gun with more training.

“I love Isak, I think he’s magnificent, then you have Haaland, but you’re not going to get him. Then you have other strikers outside of England,” the 53-year-old told Mikel Obi on the Obi One podcast.

“Like Osimhen, I know he’s your countryman, but I’m not convinced that he’ll perform in the English Premier League. If it were to be in Spain or Italy, then I’d have said yes, but in the Premier League?, I’m not 100% sure.

“I really like Jackson, and people think I’m crazy, but I like him because he brings a lot of energy into the team, and people don’t see that.

“The pressing from the front, the work rate, all those things are important for the progress of the team.”

“He gets a lot of chances, but he doesn’t take a lot. It is an argument, and he needs to get better. There is a difference between a striker who gets a lot of chances and one who doesn’t get chances.

“Now, we can work on him to make him calmer in front of the goal so he can be a better finisher. Before Villareal, he wasn’t playing anywhere, but now he’s at Chelsea and he’s still young,” the former Atletico De Madrid forward concluded.

With Chelsea bringing in two more strikers, it appears a move to Stamford Bridge for Victor Osimhen won’t be happening this summer, leaving the room open for Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Galatasaray to pounce on the prolific forward.
