Child hospitalized after being attacked by mountain lion in Northern California, authorities say

SAN MATEO COUNTY, California — A child was taken to a hospital Tuesday evening after being attacked by a mountain lion in an unincorporated area of ​​San Mateo County in Northern California, authorities said.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the reported attack in the 1000 block of Tunitas Creek Road around 6:50 p.m. The area is south of Half Moon Bay.

Authorities say the child was conscious when they were taken to hospital, but did not comment on their condition.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is investigating the reported attack.

The sheriff’s office released the following statement in response to this incident:
