From amateur football a couple of years ago to potentially starring at Anfield, Nigeria’s Christantus Uche is edging closer to a Premier League dream move, Footynaija.com reports.

The 22-year-old Getafe midfielder has emerged as a central figure in Liverpool’s long-term plans, with FSG, the club’s owners, now closing in on a €150 million deal to acquire Getafe, according to a report by AZScore.

As per the report, if the deal materialises, Uche, who is one of Getafe’s standout performers, could be fast-tracked to Merseyside.

For Uche, who only three years ago was playing amateur football, the journey has been meteoric. At 6ft 3in, he’s a commanding presence in midfield — contributing 13 goals for Getafe last season, more than any other player at the club. His blend of physicality, flair, and tactical intelligence has already earned him rave reviews, not least from Liverpool scouts monitoring his development.

His versatility is one of his greatest weapons. Uche is comfortable playing as a number 10, a box-to-box midfielder, or even further forward, having started his career as a striker. It’s this all-round capability that makes him a dream fit for Arne Slot’s Liverpool side.

Uche recently made his senior debut for Nigeria in May, scoring the winning penalty in the shootout victory over Jamaica that clinched the Unity Cup. He followed that with a solid display against Russia in Moscow, confirming his status as one of the Super Eagles’ brightest prospects.

If FSG finalise their Getafe acquisition, Liverpool will not only benefit from a strengthened multi-club model but could also lock down one of the most exciting young African players in world football.
