Super Eagles striker Christantus Uche is set to complete his move to Wolverhampton Wanderers after Getafe confirmed the deal, Soccernet.ng reports.
Multiple reports suggest that the Nigerian international is subject to medicals tomorrow before the official signing.
Uche, who has impressed with his performances in LaLiga, will become Wolves’ latest addition as the Premier League side looks to strengthen their attack.
Torres Confirms Christantus Uche Exit
Speaking to DAZN and cited by Mundodeportivo, before Getafe’s match, club president Ángel Torres admitted that financial regulations left him with no choice but to sanction Uche’s departure.
“I’m forced to sell him, I have no other choice,” Torres said. “We know we have to sell. We’re not in favour of selling the best. I think we’re ruining LaLiga. They’re forcing us to sell. We’ve had to sell Alderete and now Uche, but hey, the rule is the rule and we have to abide by it.”
Torres further revealed that Getafe will now look to reinvest once the Nigerian’s transfer is finalized.
“We have 22 players in the squad. Let’s see what the coach says. We can reinforce ourselves with a centre-back, a winger, or a centre forward. Starting tomorrow, when Uche undergoes his medical and the deal is finalized, we’ll see how the numbers go.”
The 22-year-old forward is expected to link up with Wolves immediately after completing the medical tests, with fans hopeful he will be available for selection as soon as this weekend.
