Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche has been linked with some Premier League clubs in recent weeks following his impressive debut campaign with Getafe this season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Uche just started playing top flight football last season, leaving third tier Spanish club Ceuta for Los Azulones for €500k last July.

In his debut campaign, the Super Eagles star featured in 33 games, contributing four goals and six assists.

Asides from his goal contributions, Uche is quite impressive on the eye with his close control, physicality, technicality and dribbling ability.

Uche’s value has increased significantly from €400k which it was before he was signed, to €8 million according to Transfermarkt data. However, Getafe value the 22-year-old midfielder at just over €20 million.

In recent weeks, there have been speculations of a possible transfer to Sunderland, Leeds United, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Brentford, and Atletico Madrid. However, nothing concrete has come out of it yet.

Uche’s agent Peter Ejiasi recently spoke about his client’s transfer situation, and he was quite coy with his statements. Ejiasi did not confirm any of the speculations, but he did not categorically say whether Uche would leave Getafe.

“There’s no truth to those [Premier League] rumors. He’s (Uche) happy at Getafe and is now focused on Russia with his national team,” Ejiasi said, per Sp Getafe.

“When the transfer window opens, you hear a lot of news. It’s still too early to know what will happen.”

When Uche joined Getafe, he signed a four-year contract with the option of a one-year extension.

Will Christantus Uche leave Getafe?

Although Christantus Uche’s agent Peter Ejiasi noted that there was nothing concrete from the Premier League yet, a lot of things could still change.

The summer transfer window lasts for just about three months, and a lot of clubs are looking to get reinforcements and plug holes in their teams.

As such, Uche could be on the move this summer. Atletico Madrid need midfield reinforcements, as most of their midfielders are on the other side of 30 already and could leave soon. So that is a possible destination for Uche.

Nonetheless, even if the Super Eagles star does not leave Getafe this summer, he will surely leave the club eventually if he continues to perform at his current level.
