All Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria (AICAN) have placed a coffin at the entrance of the Finance Ministry headquarters in Abuja as part of a continuous protest over unpaid government debts.

The group accused the government of attempting to force them out of business.

An AICAN executive said the coffin was brought to symbolise the loss of members caused by issues related to the unpaid debts.

“Even last week we buried a member, Abdulganiyu. This has been going on for long. And it’s unacceptable. We lost six members recently due to high blood pressure,” he said.

The protest highlights the growing frustrations among contractors over delayed payments and the impact on their livelihoods.
