Owo Local Government was thrown into political tension in the early hours of today following the indefinite suspension of its Chairman Hon. Tope Omolayo, by the Legislative Arm of the Owo Local Government Council.
The announcement, made during a heated plenary session, cited gross misconduct as the primary reason for the action.
Though specific details of the allegations remain unclear, sources within the council chambers suggest that the decision was the result of some ongoing internal concerns.
According to source, Allegations against him include financial improprieties, utter violation of statutory budget and IGR regulations, disrespect to traditional heads, and failure to conduct himself in an appropriate manner.
The Vice-Chairman is to act in his stead.
“This was not a hasty move,” a legislative source disclosed.
“It followed a series of deliberations and unresolved issues tied to administrative conduct and accountability.”
