Ex-Bolton Wanderers and Senegalese football legend El-Hadji Diouf believes a potential partnership between Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen at Liverpool could be just as electrifying as the famed Salah–Sadio Mané duo that helped power the Reds to multiple titles.

The former Liverpool forward himself expressed strong support for the idea of pairing the Egyptian superstar with Nigeria’s red-hot striker, Osimhen, who recently finished as the top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig while on loan at Galatasaray.

Osimhen has been linked with a move to the English Premier League for as long as we can remember, and has recently been strongly linked with a move to join Liverpool.

What El-Hadji Diouf Said On Osimhen’s Liverpool Move

For the former Bolton player, the signing of Osimhen would boost Arne Slot’s, which would birth the strong combination of Osimhen and Salah at the front.

“I am convinced that it could work, that these two players could be complementary. I would like to see this duo form,” Diouf told Africa Foot.

“Mohamed Salah had an exceptional season, finishing top scorer in the Premier League, and he played an important part in the conquest of the title. Osimhen finished top scorer in the Turkish championship. They are two footballers with different characteristics, but who could very well get along.”

“I remember the Mo Salah–Sadio Mané association, which worked very well. I think the Salah–Osimhen duo could do just as well!”

Premier League Move Stalls as Napoli’s Demands Prove Too High

Despite interest from Liverpool, and Manchester United, Premier League clubs are currently unable to meet Osimhen’s wage expectations.

“Well, Osimhen is waiting for Premier League teams, but they don’t have enough money, so probably Gala or Saudi Arabia,” a source told Soccernet.ng.

Osimhen, currently contracted to Napoli, is widely tipped for a summer move amid growing interest from top European and Saudi clubs.

While no official contact has been confirmed between Liverpool and Napoli, speculation continues to grow about where Osimhen’s future lies.

Despite this, Diouf believes a move to Anfield—where he briefly played between 2002 and 2004—could bolster the attack of Liverpool.
